Technically, the second day of spring, but close enough. Yesterday was beautiful and sunny, if just a bit on the chilly side. If yesterday's temperatures were the average winter temperature in Pennsylvania, it would be a much happier season.
Then, overnight, the scenery changed to this.

Two or three inches of snow covered everything like a blanket. A heavy, wet blanket.

A picturesque, heavy, wet blanket.

Perhaps dismal would be a better word than picturesque to describe the heavy, wet blanket.

The snow thinned out a bit as I passed through the valley and headed up the mountain...

...and the landscape grew bleak, reminding me that although spring is here, winter may still have a bitter repartee or two left before it leaves for good.

At the top of the mountain, the snow blanket was thick again. The fir tree schlumped miserably under its weight.
Down in the Susquehanna valley, there was only the barest trace of snow, and I took no more pictures.
